EDM is the first genre that most people think of when someone mentions Diplo, but he’s been exploring the world of country in recent years. His next album Diplo Presents Thomas Wesley: Chapter 2 – Swamp Savant is on the way and he described it as a country record.

This isn’t the first time Diplo dipped his toes into country music, and the title of his latest album suggests it’s a sequel. He released his first album under his moniker Thomas Wesley back in 2020, and it featured collaborations with Orville Peck, Noah Cyrus, Thomas Rhett, Morgan Wallen, Young Thug, Jonas Brothers, and many more.

The second time around, Diplo went back to his father’s house in Florida to prepare for this project and spent six months learning guitar and getting in touch with nature, before heading to Nashville, Kentucky, and Texas to continue his research.

“I looked back at my career and the things I learned as a songwriter… [I] basically reflected on my whole life and career and connection with this music.. there was a lot.. it all started in the swamps I was raised in,” he wrote on social media.

Diplo Presents Thomas Wesley: Chapter 2 – Swamp Savant will hit the shelves on April 28, and “Wasted” featuring Kodak Black and Koe Wetzel will serve as its first single.
