Being a frontman of one of metal’s most popular bands in recent decades, Slipknot’s Corey Taylor should know a thing or two about the genre’s future. And according to him, bands like Knocked Loose, Ho99o9, and Code Orange will be an important part of it.

In a recent interview with BBC 6 Music Taylor said that the trendsetting acts would come from the underground scene and then singled out several bands he thinks have a bright future ahead of them.

“I think the underground is always gonna be healthy. Because that’s where the majority of trendsetters, the cutting-edge artists come from,” said Taylor. “Whether it’s bands like Knocked Loose or…there’s this fantastic band called Ho99o9, which is like hip hop, metal, hardcore: they dabble in so many genres. And they’re so good.”

Taylor also recommended Code Orange for those who are more into “darker-edged stuff,” while adding that Rival Sons and Royal Blood are some of his favorite bands from the last 10 years.
