Elton John’s record-breaking Farewell Yellow Brick Road Tour came to a close this weekend, and the last show was full of surprises. Coldplay tuned in via live stream during the concert in Stockholm, Sweden to pay an emotional tribute to the legendary singer.

Chris Martin and his bandmates were simultaneously performing in Gothenburg, Sweden, while John’s final Farewell Tour show was happening at Stockholm’s Tele2Arena. They took a moment to tune in via a video broadcast, which was beamed out at the musicians’ respective concerts in Sweden after Coldplay delivered an emotional cover of John’s all-time classic “Rocketman”.

Martin addressed John directly in the touching video and reflected on many amazing things he has done over the years.

“Elton, from all of us here, from all the bands and all the artists that you’ve loved and inspired and helped, we just love you so much. We are so grateful for everything you’ve done for us, everything you’ve done for the AIDS Foundation. Every time you’ve been kind to anybody,” said Martin.

John’s Farewell Yellow Brick Road came to a close in Stockholm on July 8, after five years and 333 shows. It made history as the highest-grossing tour of all time and the first one to ever cross the $900 million mark.
