Los Angeles rap group Clipping decided to spend this summer in the studio, and they now have a new record to show for. The experimental trio just announced that their third studio effort, titled There Existed an Addiction to Blood, will be out on October 18th.

In a press release detailing the album, Clipping shared that their new songs were heavily influenced by the works of hardcore acts from the 1990s like Gravediggaz and Brotha Lynch Hung as well as Southern rap and groups like Geto Boys, UGK and Three 6 Mafia.

Alongside the announcement for the album, which will feature guest appearances from Benny the Butcher, La Chat, Ed Balloon and others, the rap group also shared the first track from the release titled “Nothing is Safe.” The single is described as “their own version of a John Carpenter-inspired rap beat, and the cops are the ones raiding a trap house.” Hear it below.

Clipping’s last studio album came in 2016 when they released Splendor & Misery. The record was well-received by the critics and praised for its “mix of futuristic and classical instrumentation” and engaging lyrics. It peaked at No.2 at the US Heatseekers Albums charts.
