We spent the better part of 2018 expecting for Chance the Rapper to treat us with as new studio album or mixtape, but that, unfortunately, didn’t happen. Still, it looks like he decided to make things right in 2019 by treating us with the follow-up to 2016’s Coloring Book.

The 25-year-old rapper delivered the news via Twitter, tweeting “July” and then “Owbum” on Monday.

In order to clear out any confusion, his manager Pat Corcoran followed that up with a full announcement.

Later on, Chance the Rapper shared some further details about the record, referring to it as his “1st album” and writing “My first album is for my fans.” He also said that we shouldn’t expect acid rap on the release.

While Chance the Rapper didn’t have a collective release since 2016, he had a busy 2018 in which he presented a number of non-album singles including “I Might Need Security,” “65th & Ingleside,” and “The Man Who Has Everything.” He also made an appearance on DJ Khaled’s upcoming album Father of Asahd, providing vocals on “No Brainer,” while being featured on Reeseynem’s track “What’s the Hook.”
