The Paris Olympics Opening Ceremony stirred a lot of commotion and gave us many memorable moments. Some of the world’s leading artists agreed to perform at the Olympics, and Celine Dion and Lady Gaga delivered the night’s most powerful performances.

After weeks of speculations that she’d hit the stage at the Olympics, Lady Gaga opened the ceremony with a rendition of the song “Mon truc en plumes”. The ceremony also featured several French artists, including opera singer Marina Viotti, Juliette Armanet performing the cover of John Lennon’s “Imagine”, and Gojira making history as the first metal band to perform at an Olympic opening ceremony.

Celine Dion’s performance was definitely the most anticipated moment of the night because it marked her first live show since she was diagnosed with stiff-person syndrome in 2022. She covered Édith Piaf’s song “Hymne à l’amour” from the first level of the Eiffel Tower, right after the Olympic flame was lit.

Dion said she was full of joy to return to one of her favorite cities and take part in the opening ceremony, and wished all the luck to the athletes taking part in the Olympics.

“I’m so happy to be celebrating these amazing athletes, with all their stories of sacrifice and determination, pain and perseverance. All of you have been so focused on your dream, and whether or not you take home a medal, I hope that being here means that it has come true for you!” wrote Dion on social media.
