It’s been two years since Shawn Mendes took a break from music to focus on his mental health, but he’s finally ready for a comeback. The Canadian hitmaker will return with the self-titled album Shawn this October, and he shared its cover and tracklist with the world.

Mendes teased the release of his fifth studio album Shawn on social media and revealed it will hit the shelves on October 18 via Island Records. He’ll celebrate his birthday by dropping two singles on August 8, “Why Why Why” and “Isn’t That Enough”.

This announcement comes two years after the singer canceled a massive world tour and paused his music career to focus on his mental health. He thanked everyone who supported him during this time, from his friends and family to his adoring fans.

“Music really can be medicine. 2 years ago I felt like I had absolutely no idea who I was. A year ago I couldn’t step into a studio without falling into complete panic. So to be here right now with 12 beautiful finished songs feels like such a gift,” wrote Mendes on social media.

Shawn marks the singer’s first studio album since Wonder in 2020, which hit No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart and produced singles “Wonder”, “Monster” ft. Justin Bieber, and “Call My Friends”.
