Although Cardi B is supposed to be the opening act on Bruno Mars’ upcoming fall tour, that won’t happen. The 25-year-old rapper announced via a statement posted on her Twitter profile that she won’t take part in the tour citing her desire to focus on motherhood as a reason.

Cardi was supposed to participate in U.S. leg of Bruno Mars’ 24K Magic World Tour, which begins on September 7th in Denver.

“I thought that after giving birth to my daughter that six weeks would be enough time for me to recover mentally and physically,” Cardi B wrote on Twitter. “I also thought that I’d be able to bring her with me on tour, but I think that I underestimated this whole mommy thing. Not only am I just not ready physically, I’m not ready to leave my baby behind since the doctors explained it’s not healthy for her to be on the road.”

Shortly after the announcement, Bruno Mars also shared a statement of his own in which he supported Cardi’s decision.

“You are absolutely doing the right thing. I also know we’ll share the stage when the time is right. We love you Cardi and we will play ‘Bodak Yellow’ every night in your honor. Please give your baby girl a hug from me…” he wrote.

Cardi B gave birth to her first child, daughter Kulture Kiari Cephu, on July 10th, 2018.
