NFL bosses struggled to find musicians willing to perform at this year’s Super Bowl halftime show, but their search is finally over. Maroon 5 and Travis Scott were confirmed as headliners, and Atlanta rap sensation Big Boi agreed to join them.

Big Boi’s addition means Atlanta’s rich hip-hop legacy will be represented at this year’s event, taking place at Atlanta’s Mercedes-Benz Stadium on February 3. Most people know this artist as member of American hip hop duo Outkast, alongside André 3000.

This year’s Super Bowl halftime show has been described as “music’s least-wanted gig” after several high-profile artists refused to perform out of solidarity with former NFL star Colin Kaepernick.

Many artists even urged Travis Scott to reject the offer after it was announced he’ll be taking part in this event. Scott stood his ground and agreed to perform under one condition – he asked NFL to make a joint donation to an organization fighting for social justice.

“I know being an artist that it’s in my power to inspire. So before confirming the Super Bowl Halftime performance, I made sure to partner with the NFL on this important donation. I am proud to support Dream Corps and the work they do that will hopefully inspire and promote change,” explained Scott.
