There’s always been something cinematic about the unique indie-pop sound of Belle and Sebastian, so it doesn’t come as a surprise to hear that their next project just happens to be the soundtrack for the upcoming movie Days of the Bagnold Summer.

This album will feature a total of 13 tracks, including re-recorded versions of their classic songs “Get Me Away From Here I’m Dying” and “I Know Where the Summer Goes” and newly-released “Sister Buddha”.

An official press release by the band describes this song as “anthemic and transcendent” and says it tries to tell a story of “a protagonist in search of an escape from the thrills, the pills, the circus ring of daily life, brimming with a message of inner strength and solidarity.”

Days of the Bagnold Summer will serve as the directorial debut of The Inbetweeners star Simon Bird, and it still doesn’t have a release date. It’s based on Joff Winterhart’s graphic novel of the same name and tells the coming-of-age story of a heavy-metal-loving teenager who’s having trouble getting along with his mom.
