It’s almost impossible to imagine what The Voice would look like without Adam Levine, but it seems like we’ll have to. Maroon 5’s singer just announced he’s leaving the singing competition show after 16 seasons serving as a coach.
The surprising announcement was made by The Voice host Carson Daly on Today, and Levine later explained his decision to depart from this show and described how special it was for him in an emotional Instagram post.
“It went on to be a life-shaping experience that will be close to my heart forever. Thank you NBC for signing me up. I am truly honored to have been a part of something I’ll always cherish for the rest of my life,” wrote Levine.
Maroon
5 also used this opportunity to thank everyone who was by his side for the past
16 seasons, including the fellow coaches and fans who’ve supported this show
for so many years.
Levine
will be replaced with Gwen Stefani when The
Voice comes back to NBC this fall. She’ll join returning coaches Blake Shelton,
John Legend and Kelly Clarkson.
