Almost 20 years after it had taken place, David Bowie’s performance on VH1’s Storytellers series will come out on vinyl on Parlophone Records.

Bowie performed live on the show on August 23rd, 1999, with songs from different eras of his then-already long and impressive career. The show is notable for songs choices that were a rarity in his live shows, such as “Can’t Help Thinking About Me” and “Word on a Wing” that had not been played in over 20 years prior to that point.

Bowie’s appearance on the VH1 show is still remembered by staff as a unique experience. “We were used to dealing with legendary musicians,” said Bill Flanagan, executive producer, in a press release. “Still, landing David Bowie was more than a big booking. There’s no way to say this without being corny: it was an honor.”

Flanagan went on to say that “Bowie has a unique place in rock and roll. He is not only one of the most influential musicians of the era, but he does nothing unless he is fully committed.”

If you’re a hardcore Bowie fan, and the 2009 DVD release just doesn’t scratch that vinyl itch, mark October 11th on your calendar.
