The two previously collaborated on the remix of Grande’s hit song “7 Rings”, which took everyone by surprise. Many people compared her hip-hop leaning tune to 2 Chainz’s single “Spend It” and their relationship was off to a rocky start.
The rapper decided he didn’t want a beef with Grande and they quickly managed to find common ground. They weren’t planning to work together on “Rule the World” at first, but Ari liked the track and everything happened organically from that point on.
