“We Don’t Talk About Bruno” is the first viral hit of 2022 and it was just a matter of time before it topped the charts. That moment is finally here, as the catchy tune from Encanto became the second song from a Disney animated movie to top the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

Bruno’s rise to the top was a long time coming, and it comes shortly after its parent album Encanto soundtrack topped the Billboard 200 chart for the third week. Several more songs from this movie made it to the Hot 100 chart, including “Surface Pressure” at no. 9.

What makes the success of “Bruno” so impressive is the fact it’s the only song apart from “A Whole New World” from Aladdin to top the Hot 100 chart for Disney. “Breaking Free” from High School Musical and “Let It Go” from Frozen previously broke into the top five. “Bruno” also marks the first chart-topping hit for its sole writer Lin-Manuel Miranda.

As for the rest of this week’s chart, Adele’s “Easy On Me” dipped to no. 2 after ten weeks on top. Glass Animals’ “Heat Waves” maintained their rank at no. 3, while the former no. 1 hit “Stay” by The Kid LAROI and Justin Bieber remained at no. 4.
