Kelly Clarkson always surprises us with some awesome covers on her Kelly Clarkson Show. This time around, the American Idol winner teamed up with actor and musician Charles Esten (Outer Banks) to deliver an electric rendition of Bruce Springsteen’s hit “Glory Days.”

Clarkson channeled her inner “The Boss” for the performance while Esten followed her on an acoustic guitar and provided backing vocals. After the two wrapped up the song, Clarkson used the opportunity to say Esten is “one of the nicest humans you’re ever going to meet.”

“People always talk about how rotten people can be. People can be awesome too — that’s Charles,” she told the audience.

Bruce Springsteen released “Glory Days” as the fifth single from his iconic 1985 album Born in the U.S.A. The track was met with a positive response from the audience, earning platinum status in the United States while also peaking at No. 5 on US Billboard Hot 100 charts.

Kelly Clarkson is no stranger to signing Born in the U.S.A. songs on her show. Back in 2020, Clarkson also covered “Dancing in the Dark,” the album’s first single and arguably its biggest hit.
