J. Cole recently treated his fans with a nice surprise, announcing that the Revenge of the Dreamers III compilation from his label Dreamville is coming out on July 5th.

But it turns out this wasn’t all. The label, founded by Cole and his manager Ibrahim Hamad, now also released a documentary that offers an insight into the creation of the project.

Revenge of the Dreamers III was recorded in Atlanta’s Tree Sound Studios in January and features J.Cole, Vince Staples, BJ the Chicago Kid, Swizz Beatz, Kenny Beats and many more. The recording sessions were followed closely by a camera crew, which managed to capture some intriguing moments and the dynamics between artists and producers.

“There’s different energy in all of these different rooms, with a bunch of producers coming in, a bunch of rappers coming in, singers, managers, you name it,” videographer Chase Fade described the sessions. “If you pop in one room and they’re making trap music, you pop in another room and they’re making some R&B, pop in another room and they’re making some soulful stuff. You never know.”

Dreamville made the documentary available for streaming on YouTube, so watch it below.
