Victoria Monét is no stranger to epic music videos, and her latest is a love letter to some of her favorite artists. She served Y2K nostalgia and paid homage to the likes of Missy Elliott, Janet Jackson, and Britney Spears in the epic visual for her latest single “Alright”.

Directed by Dave Meyers and choreographed by Sean Bankhead, the music video for “Alright” is a love letter to some of Monét’s favorite artists. Janet Jackson’s music video for the song of the same name was a clear inspiration, but Monét also honored Missy Elliott and Britney Spears.

Monét thanked Meyers and Bankhead for helping her bring this music video to life and expressed gratitude to every single person who had their hands on this visual for being extremely passionate from start to finish.

“Alright” was initially released as one of the songs from Monét’s Grammy-winning debut album Jaguar II before being promoted to a single. She said this song is all about freedom and liberation, and that’s why now felt like a perfect time to share its music video with the world.

“This video is a visual presentation of that sentiment through freedom of movement and fluidity between masculine and feminine energy… There’s no better month to release this visual than Pride Month, Black Music Month, and the beginning of summer ’24!” she said in a statement.
