Legendary North-Irish singer-songwriter and instrumentalist Van Morrison doesn’t show any signs of slowing down even at age 73. Morrison just announced that his 40th studio album, titled The Prophet Speak, will be out on December 7th.

The album will see Van Morrison presenting six original songs, while also delivering eight covers of classics like Solomon Burke’s “Gotta Get You Off My Mind,” John Lee Hooker’s “Dimples,” and Sam Cooke’s “Laughin’ and Clownin’.” Besides the musician’s backing band, The Prophet Speak will also feature an appearance from renowned jazz organist and trumpeter Joey DeFrancesco.

“It was important for me to get back to recording new music as well as doing some of the blues material that has inspired me from the beginning,” said Morrison in a statement. “Writing songs and making music is what I do, and working with great musicians makes it all the more enjoyable.”

This will be Van Morrison’s second album of the year since he already presented his 39th studio release, You’re Driving Me Crazy, back in April. It also contained mostly his interpretations of classics accompanied by some Morrison originals. The record peaked at number 76 at the US Billboard 200, while reaching the top 10 in Spain and New Zealand.
