Portland is welcoming yet another Pickathon festival in the summer. As usual, expect off-beat folk-related music–the kind of music that made Yo La Tengo, Jeff Tweedy and the Beach House famous. The lineup is out and so are the dates for the event.

Tyler Childers will be joined by Nathaniel Rateliff and his band the Night Sweats as the event’s headliners. Rateliff will sing first as a solo artist before joining his band for another act. Khruangbin, who performed in two sold out shows in Portland last year, and Mandolin Orange, a familiar name in the Pickathon festival, will also headline the event.

Unlike many festivals that are held in stadiums and uptown arenas, the Pickathon takes place in the remote woods of Portland, Oregon. More than 21 artists are expected to perform at the event scheduled to take place between 2nd and 4th of August. Apart from the headlines, Fruit Bats, Damien Jurado, Julia Jacklin, the Preservation Hall Jazz band and Lucius will perform.

This year’s event will follow the country, and folk themes it is known for since it was launched 21 years ago. However, fans will welcome at least one metal band, the YOB and one blues artist, Mdou Moctar-a North African musician.
