Rolling Stone recently described Travis Scott as “rap’s newest superstar” and he’s getting ready to cement this status. Super Bowl halftime show just added the famous rapper to their 2019 lineup.

Scott agreed to perform at the upcoming show on February 3, alongside Maroon 5 who will headline the event. Sources close to the Super Bowl organizers claim another three guests will join them on stage, but these rumors are yet to be confirmed.

The National Football League struggled to find performers to fill the slots this year. Rihanna was one of the artists who turned down their offer to headline the halftime show in support of Colin Kaepernick, who was blacklisted for kneeling during the national anthem.

Several fellow rappers, including Jay-Z and Meek Mill, reportedly got in touch with Travis Scott and tried to talk him out of performing, as well. Something similar happened when Maroon 5’s involvement made the headlines in September.

Even if Scott eventually back out, it won’t change the fact that 2018 has beenan amazing year for him. His album Astroworld debuted atop of US Billboard 200, he got his first no. 1 single with Sicko Mode, and received three Grammy nods – including best rap album of the year.
