The audience at The Late Show recording studio was treated to a stunning performance this Wednesday when Tori Kelly took the stage with the song “Sorry Would Go a Long Wayfrom her new album, Inspired by True Events.

This was the 26-year-old singer-songwriter’s first appearance on The Late Show, and she did not disappoint. As the song reached its end, members of the audience rose to their feet to show their appreciation of the soul-bearing performance.

Inspired by True Events, which came out last week, is Kelly’s third album. She had previously discussed the process behind it on Apple Music’s Beats 1, saying “it’s definitely the most vulnerable album I’ve ever done, the most raw.”

“I really just poured my whole heart and soul into it, and I wrote most of the album with a guy named Jimmy Napes and he really just held my hand through the whole process because some of the sessions felt like therapy really, and just really opening up.”

This emotional honesty was certainly not missed by the viewers of The late Show, both at home and especially at the studio!
