It’s always fun to watch our favorite emerging artists finally come into their own and share their debut albums with the world. From Victoria Monét and PinkPantheress, many rising stars finally released their first LP this year, and here are five that knocked it out of the park.
Boygenius – The Record
Julien Baker, Phoebe Bridgers, and Lucy Dacus all have a pretty impressive track record on their own, but they took things to a whole new level with the first album they released together.
Jungkook – Golden
Several BTS members released their debut solo albums this year, but Jungkook’s Golden was the most impressive. It produced hit singles “Seven” ft. Latto and “3D” ft. Jack Harlow.
Victoria Monét – Jaguar II
Victoria Monét is coming into the upcoming Grammy Awards as one of the most-nominated artists of the year, and she owes her success to her debut album Jaguar II and its hit single “On My Mama”.
PinkPantheress – Heaven Knows
After breaking onto the scene with the viral hit “Boy’s a Liar Pt. 2” ft. Ice Spice, PinkPantheress served more Y2K nostalgia on her debut album Heaven Knows and showed the world she’s no one-hit wonder.
Raye – My 21st Century Blues
Raye gave us one of the biggest bangers of the year with “Escapism” ft. 070 Shake, and this song did a great job setting the stage for her long-awaited debut album My 21st Century Blues.
