The music industry bid farewell to one of its all-time greats this week. Tributes poured in for the legendary singer Tine Turner, who’ll stay remembered as the Queen of Rock ‘n’ Roll after passing away at the age of 83 at her home in Switzerland.

Turner died at her home in Küsnacht, Switzerland on May 24, after years of struggling with intestinal cancer. Her representatives confirmed her passing on social media and sent their heartfelt condolences to her family.

“It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Tina Turner.  With her music and her boundless passion for life, she enchanted millions of fans around the world and inspired the stars of tomorrow. Today we say goodbye to a dear friend who leaves us all her greatest work: her music,” reads the official statement by Turner’s representatives.

Turner’s rise to prominence started during the ’60s with Ike & Tina Turner, but she started forging her own path once they went their separate way. She found even bigger success as a solo act and went on to sell over 100 million records, win 12 Grammy Awards, and earn her legendary nickname: the Queen of Rock ‘n’ Roll.

Many fellow artists mourned her loss and shared touching stories about Turner in the wake of her passing, including Diana Ross, Dolly Parton, Beyoncé, Mick Jagger, and Cher, among others.
