The Weeknd has been dropping hints about his next album for quite some time, and he finally made things official. Hurry Up Tomorrow is hitting the shelves later this year, and it will mark the final chapter of the singer’s trilogy that also includes After Hours and Dawn FM.
The Weeknd announced his new album with a dramatic cryptic message, where he reflected on the path his career took over the course of the past 14 years. He talked about trying to “cleanse the wounds with melodies and lights” and feeling stuck in limbo, before announcing the dawn of a new age.
“More songs could help, but what do I have left to say? Woe is me in my gilded cage, right? The very thing that once made me invincible failed me on the world stage. A new trauma surfaced, opening floodgates. A new path awaits. When today ends, I’ll discover who I am.”
The Weeknd also revealed his new album will be titled Hurry Up Tomorrow, adding it will make the third and final chapter of the trilogy he started with After Hours and Dawn FM. He announced its title just in time for the launch of his Universal Studios experience The Weeknd: Nightmare Trilogy and the highly-anticipated concert in São Paulo, Brazil on September 7.
