Fleetwood Mac has finally confirmed that Lindsey Buckingham left Fleetwood Mac as a result of feuds with Stevie Nicks. He was not “fired” as he had previously claimed.

Lindsey Buckingham mysteriously left the band last year and claimed that he had been fired by frontwoman Stevie Nicks. Now, the founding member of the band Mick Fleetwood has revealed what actually went down.

“The truth is, call it what you want, a parting of company took place, and it had to take place, and it was supported by the remaining band members around something that for sure was a major problem to two people – Lindsey and Stevie,” he admitted.

Stevie and Lindsey had previously been involved romantically but the breakup resulted in a feud which is still going strong.

Keyboardist Christine McVie added: “It was the only route we could take because there was too much animosity between certain members of the band at that point, there was just no way it could’ve gone on as a five-piece, a group with Lindsey in the band. So it was either just completely break up the band or make the best of it.”

Fleetwood Mac is currently on tour and will play at Times Union Center in Albany, New York tomorrow night (March 20).
