The Smashing Pumpkins are going old-school in their efforts to find a new band member. American alternative rockers just posted a public ad saying that they are “searching for an additional guitarist” and that the application process is “open to anyone who might be interested.”

The band posted the ad on their social media, where they instructed the candidates to “send their resume and any related materials to [email protected].”

The Smashing Pumpkins said goodbye to their longtime guitarist, Jeff Schroeder, back in October. At the time, Schroeder said he was leaving the band to “make some space to explore a slightly different path.” Schroeder has been with the group since 2007 and is credited on five albums.

The Smashing Pumpkins released their twelfth studio album, Atum: A Rock Opera in Three Acts, between November 2022 and May 2023. The record consisted of three installments, with each installment containing 11 songs.

The ad for a new guitarist might have something to do with the group’s expansive touring plans for 2024. The Smashing Pumpkins will first team up with Weezer for a tour of the UK and Europe in the summer before embarking on a journey across the United States to support Green Day.
