The Killers don’t even have to release any new material to hit no. 1 in the UK, and Rebel Diamonds is a case in point. The band’s latest greatest hits compilation easily hit No. 1 in the UK, becoming their eighth album to reach the top of the charts in this country.

Rebel Diamonds marks the second greatest hits compilation released by the Las Vegas rockers, following Direct Hits in 2013. It was released by Island Records on December 8 and coincides with the 20th anniversary of their debut album Hot Fuss from 2004.

Hot Fuss was The Killers’ first album to ever reach No. 1 in the UK, and they managed to replicate its success with every studio album they released in the years to come, including Sam’s Town (2006), Day & Age (2008), Battle Born (2012), Wonderful Wonderful (2017), Imploding the Mirage (2020) and Pressure Machine (2021).

The Killers are currently plotting their eighth studio album, but it will take a while before we get to hear it because they recently decided to scrap the whole thing.

“It just didn’t feel authentic. It felt like we were forcing something. We love synth music, it’s a part of our DNA and there’s been great contributions from us in that genre,” Brandon Flowers told The Sun.
