Indie rockers The Decemberists are aiming to finish 2018 on a high note. After releasing their eighth studio album I’ll Be Your Girl in March, the band will now also present a new EP until the end of the year. Titled Traveling On, the extended play will be officially released on December 14th as 10-inch vinyl, CD and digital format.

The EP will contain five songs, which are outtakes from the I’ll Be Your Girl recording sessions The Decemberists did with producer John Congleton. Alongside the announcement, the band also unveiled the title track from the release. You can hear it below.

Written almost entirely by the frontman, Colin Meloy, I’ll Be Your Girl saw the band experimenting more with their sound and using several new instruments. The release ended up receiving positive reviews from the critics who called it a “very exciting way forward for the band,” and “a start of a new chapter.”

The album also had a solid run on the charts, peaking at No.9 on the US Billboard and getting to number eight on UK Albums.

The Decemberists spent most of November touring across Europe, but are expected to announce the second leg of U.S. tour after the Traveling On gets released.
