How would Van Halen sound like if they were synthpop band instead of hard rockers? Well, we will find out thanks to The Bird and The Bee. This pop duo, which consists out of singer Inara George and instrumentalist Greg Kurstin, recently announced they would be releasing a cover album dedicated entirely to Van Halen’s hits. Titled Interpreting the Masters Volume 2: A Tribute to Van Halen, the record is set for August 2nd release date.

The Bird and The Bee now also gave us a glimpse of how the record will sound like, sharing their rendition of the band’s 1984’s classic “Hot For Teacher.” To make things even better, the duo also recruited Beck to help them out with the cover. Check it out below.

“Hot For Teacher” was originally released on Van Halen’s sixth studio album 1984. The song marks the final single released by the group’s original lineup and is considered one of the best hard rocks songs of all time.

Masters Volume 2: A Tribute to Van Halen will be The Bird and The Bee’s second covers album, as they released one dedicated to Hall & Oates back in 2010. It received favorable reviews from the critics while peaking at No. 75 on US Billboard 200 charts.
