Tems’ star has been on the rise for quite some time, even though she still hasn’t released a studio album – but that’s about to change pretty soon. The Nigerian singer announced the release of her debut studio album Born in the Wild, set to hit the shelves next month.

Tems announced Born in the Wild with a visual that evokes the scenes from her childhood, which was most likely filmed in her home country. This clip also features the lyrics of her new song, “It’s all over the news, all over the news, I notice/ Under the sun, struggling to find my focus/ When I was young, younger than my mind as always/ Runnin’ away.”

Born in the Wild will be released in May via RCA Records, but Tems is yet to share its official release date. This record will feature her recent singles “Me & U” and “Not An Angel”, both released last year.

Tems announced her debut album shortly after her Coachella performance this past weekend, which featured some pretty unexpected guests. Wizkid and Justin Bieber joined her for a rendition of their hit “Essence” remix, which was released as a part of Wizkid’s album Made in Lagos and became Tems’ first song to hit the top ten on the Billboard Hot 100 chart at No. 9.
