2023 has been a monumental year for Taylor Swift, and every time we think there’s no milestone she hasn’t reached yet—she proves us wrong. The Grammy-winning singer has been named Time’s Person of the Year for 2023, becoming the first musician to be honored with this title.

Time’s annual “Person of the Year” title is reserved for individuals who shaped the headlines over the previous 12 months—for better or for worse. Swift felt like a perfect fit for 2023 because she “found a way to transcend borders and be a source of light” in a divided world.

The 33-year-old singer smashed records with her sold-out The Eras Tour throughout 2023, released a concert film inspired by this tour, dropped re-recorded versions of her albums Speak Now and 1989, hit no. 1 with singles “Cruel Summer” and “Is It Over Now?”, and officially became a billionaire.

The list of her achievements goes on, and she discussed them all in her interview with Time, along with the many ups and downs she faced throughout her career. She also reflected on the success of The Eras Tour and the responsibility she feels to her fans to do a good show every time she hits the stage.

“I know I’m going on that stage whether I’m sick, injured, heartbroken, uncomfortable, or stressed. That’s part of my identity as a human being now. If someone buys a ticket to my show, I’m going to play it unless we have some sort of force majeure,” said Swift.
