]]>J-Hope and J. Cole filmed the music video in New York City, and they can be seen moving along a cityscape as the clip progresses. “On the Street” is the best of both worlds, and it opens with J-Hope’s verse, before J. Cole takes over in the second verse, rapping about his personal journey.
This song is the latest addition to J-Hope’s series “Hope on the Street”. He chose the street as the key motif because it can serve as a metaphor for life since it’s the place where many people’s everyday lives pass by.
“It comes from ‘street dance,’ the genre that represents J-Hope’s roots as an artist, and it also symbolizes the path that he will continue to take with his fans around the world,” reads the statement from his label HYBE.
“On the Street” is most likely J-Hope’s last single we’ll get to hear in quite some time since he’ll soon begin the enlistment process to complete his mandatory military service in South Korea.

]]>The post J. Cole Has Announced That His Gang Starr Feature Will Be His Last appeared first on Hot Pop Today.
]]>The American rapper recently featured on the group’s first song in 16 years. The group had reunited to share a track featuring the posthumous vocals from MC Guru. According to Gang Starr’s DJ Premier, Cole could not resist contributing vocals to the track when he heard it.
“When it comes to this generation of MCs, ones that are lyrically on the level that Guru was on and someone that he would want to work with, Cole is that guy,” he said of the feature. “When Cole heard the record he got the chills and knew it was a classic.”
When the track was released, J. Cole shared it on Twitter, declaring it to be an “honor” to have featured. In the tweet, he also announced that the feature would be his last.
J. Cole fans are certainly disappointed as a Drake collaboration was promised at the rapper’s show in April. Unfortunately, J. Cole has left no room for ambiguity in his tweet, stating “this is the last feature you’ll hear from me.”

]]>But it turns out this wasn’t all. The label, founded by Cole and his manager Ibrahim Hamad, now also released a documentary that offers an insight into the creation of the project.
Revenge of the Dreamers III was recorded in Atlanta’s Tree Sound Studios in January and features J.Cole, Vince Staples, BJ the Chicago Kid, Swizz Beatz, Kenny Beats and many more. The recording sessions were followed closely by a camera crew, which managed to capture some intriguing moments and the dynamics between artists and producers.
“There’s different energy in all of these different rooms, with a bunch of producers coming in, a bunch of rappers coming in, singers, managers, you name it,” videographer Chase Fade described the sessions. “If you pop in one room and they’re making trap music, you pop in another room and they’re making some R&B, pop in another room and they’re making some soulful stuff. You never know.”

]]>Instead of putting themselves in the spotlight, the two rappers gave other people an opportunity to shine, and it’s proven to be the best choice they could’ve possibly make. The emotional video for their latest track shows numerous couples enjoying their time with each other.
Director Olivia Rose recruited people who share a real connection for this video because she hopped their strong bond will bring vulnerability and authenticity to “Purple Emoji”.
“I wanted to stay true to the lyrics and create a video that showed real couples, real friends, real siblings and the tiniest of actions of intimacy they share. I think the outcome is a video that can resonate with all people from all walks of life and is representative of the full spectrum of love,” said Rose in a statement.

]]>The post J. Cole Goes On a Crazy Ride in Music Video for “Middle Child” appeared first on Hot Pop Today.
]]>“Middle Child” sees J. Cole wandering from one ominous location to the next, and it features a bunch of little moments that are worth a closer look. One tiny segment that got everyone talking are heads of three rappers mounted above the fireplace, with gold plates reading “Your Favorite Rapper,” “This Could Be You” and “Ask For A Feature?”
The title, lyrics and a video for this track all point at the man who’s stuck between two generations, and trying to figure out where he belongs in the modern hip-hop landscape.
J. Cole gave us an amazing example of a soul searching and self-reflection with “Middle Child”, which became his highest-charting song to date after reaching no. 4 on Billboard Hot 100.
At this point, it’s still unclear if this track is a standalone single or a part of a forthcoming release. J. Cole is currently working on several major projects, including his new studio album The Fall Off and the third volume of Dreamville Records’ compilation “Revenge of the Dreamers”.
