SZA really kept her fans waiting for her long-awaited project Lana, and there’s still a lot of uncertainty surrounding it. After several songs had reportedly been leaked, SZA decided to release them as a part of the SOS deluxe edition, and start working on Lana “from scratch”.
SZA’s decision to delay the release of Lana comes shortly after she spoke about three released songs in a since-deleted tweet. She said she’ll start working on Lana from scratch at the time, telling everyone they can keep the leaks and outtakes to themselves.
Despite deleting this tweet, SZA later doubled down on her statement, saying that the leaks will be released on the SOS deluxe album while she works on Lana.
“Lana deserves more time and music no one’s ever heard before… I decided […] I should just consolidate the leaks and the outtakes and drop that as to not prolong the process and then focus on my next project as a win-win for everybody,” she wrote on X.
SZA’s third studio album Lana was originally conceived as a deluxe edition of its predecessor SOS. The R&B superstar later decided to reimagine it as its own album consisting of new music, and “Saturn” was released as its first single last month.
