Selena Gomez is no stranger to epic collaborations that celebrate her Latin heritage, and it was just a matter of time before she gave us a full Spanish-language single. That moment finally arrived in the form of “De Una Vez”, a magical new song that pays homage to her roots.

The music video for this tune is just as amazing as the lyrics, and it’s deeply rooted in the concept of magical realism. Throughout the video, Gomez is shown wearing the Sacred Heart around her neck, a symbol of resilience, as she moves through a mystical house and sings about her growth and healing.

Gomez told Apple Music’s Zane Lowe that singing in Spanish comes very naturally to her and that she wanted to do it for a long time. Now felt like the right moment, because she believes there’s something about Latin music that makes people feel things during difficult times.

“This has been something I’ve wanted to do for 10 years, working on a Spanish project, because I’m so, so proud of my heritage, and just genuinely felt like I wanted this to happen. And it happened, and I feel like it’s the perfect timing,” explained the singer.
