Sam Fender has released his powerful new video for ‘Poundshop Kardashians’.

“Poundshop Kardashians” features on his debut EP, Dead Boys. The new track is a searing commentary on celebrity culture and the video shows him interacting with a series of Kardashian-esque characters. It’s essentially a poppy rant about everything Sam Fender hates about our culture, but it’s sort of great.

“It talks about our obsession with weightless pop culture and a generation of narcissists, like me, who follow it”, Fender explained.

Sam Fender’s EP covers a whole range of serious issues. The EP’s titular track “Dead Boys’ is about the serious issue of male suicide.

It’s a song about male suicide, particularly in my hometown,” Fender told NME. “I lost some friends very close to me because of that. This song came from that place, and I have been playing it to other people ever since. It’s raised a conversation and I realized how much of a present issue it is. Everybody that I spoke to from all different parts of the country has all got a connection to someone they’ve lost.

He added: “It really opened my eyes to how much of an issue it is.”

Sam Fender’s EP Dead Boys is out now.
