Sabrina Carpenter has given us one of the catchiest songs in recent months with “Espresso”, and she’s getting credit where credit is due. This bubblegum pop banger is slowly climbing up the charts around the world, and it just became her first song to hit No. 1 in the UK.

“Espresso” previously became Carpenter’s first top ten hit in both the UK and the US, but it reached a new milestone during its latest week on the Official Singles Chart. It racked up 8.8 million streams to become the singer’s first chart-topping hit in this country.

“Espresso” had tough competition in “Fortnight” by Taylor Swift and Post Malone, but eventually managed to beat it by fewer than 500 chart units to reach the top. Hozier’s “Too Sweet”, Benson Boone’s “Beautiful Things”, and Artemas’ “I Like the Way You Kiss Me” rounded up the top five in the UK this week.

“Espresso” was released as a standalone single ahead of Carpenter’s performance at this year’s Coachella Music Festival back in early April. After the song hit No. 1 in the UK, she celebrated its success by tweeting, “I THOUGHT YALL DRANK TEA OMG THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!” She’s expected to perform it live as a musical guest on Saturday Night Live on May 18.
