Sabrina Carpenter has been ruling the charts around the world since the start of 2024, and she just set another major record in the UK. She scored her third chart-topper with “Taste” and pushed total weeks at No. 1 this year to 161the most ever by a solo female artist.
“Taste” is Carpenter’s third chart-topper this year in the UK, following the success of “Espresso” and “Please Please Please”. These songs spent multiple weeks at No. 1, helping her score her 16th week at No. 1 this year, breaking the record previously held by Olivia Rodrigo.
This is the most weeks spent at No. 1 for a solo female artist, but Olivia Newton-John also managed to spend 16 weeks in 1978 as part of her “Grease” duets with John Travolta, “You’re The One That I Want” (nine weeks) and “Summer Nights” (six weeks).
“Taste” was released as the third single from Carpenter’s latest album Short n’ Sweet, and they both hit the shelves on August 23. This album debuted at No. 1 in both the United Kingdom and the United States, in addition to topping the charts all around the world, and “Bed Chem” has recently been sent to the radio stations as its fourth single.
