Sabrina Carpenter has been trying to break into the top ten for quite some time, and her chart domination is finally upon us. She made quite a splash with her latest catchy bop “Espresso”, which became her first top ten single on the Billboard Hot 100 chart at No. 7.

“Espresso” hit the shelves on April 12, just in time for Carpenter’s performance at Coachella, and drew 19.8 million streams, 5.1 million in airplay audience, and sold 4,000 in its first week. It debuted at No. 7 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, becoming the week’s highest-charting new song, in addition to being Carpenter’s first single to enter the top ten.

In addition to finding success in the US, “Espresso” also entered the top ten in Australia, Canada, and the United Kingdom, becoming her highest-charting song in these territories.

Carpenter recently revealed that the lyrics for “Espresso” came together pretty quickly when she was in France, and she could feel how fun the song would be from the very start.

“I think for me, there was something really exciting about the fact that there was so much personality throughout the entire song because those are the ones that are really, really fun to sing live with a crowd,” Carpenter told Apple Music 1’s Zane Lowe.
