Post Malone delivered another example of his musical versatility during a recent appearance on the We’re Texas online fundraiser. This time, the “White Iverson” rapper ventured into country and covered Brad Paisley’s “I’m Gonna Miss Her (The Fishin’ Song)” and Sturgill Simpson’s “You Can Have the Crown.”

The Academy Award-winning actor Matthew McConaughey, who organized the We’re Texas fundraiser, seemed to be particularly impressed with Malone’s performance as he posted a video of it on his newly-created YouTube channel.

To start the clip, Malone greets the fans and tells them that they will hear “some of my favorite country-esque tunes.” He then takes the stage with Dwight Yoakam’s band and remains surprisingly faithful to the original sound of the tracks.

McConaughey recruited a number of his fellow Texans for We’re Texas in an attempt to raise money for those affected by winter storms that recently hit the state. Besides Malone, the event included appearances from Willie Nelson, Miranda Lambert, Kelly Clarkson, and George Strait.
