It’s been three years since Pixies dropped their last studio album, and they’re finally ready to share some new music with the world. Their next LP Doggerel is coming our way in September and they teased its release with a new single “There’s A Moon On”.

According to the band’s vocalist/guitarist Black Francis, this album will see them take their music in a new direction and create something bigger and bolder.

“We’re trying to do things that are very big and bold and orchestrated. The punky stuff, I really like playing it but you just cannot artificially create that s—t. There’s another way to do this, there’s other things we can do with this extra special energy that we’re encountering,” said Francis.

Guitarist Joey Santiago echoed his statement, saying this album will show the band’s growth because it features more conventional arrangements without under-two-minute songs.

Doggerel will be released on September 30 via BMG. It follows the release of the band’s stand-alone singles “Hear Me Out” and “Human Crime”, but they’re not expected to be featured on the album. Doggerel will feature a total of 12 tracks, including the recently released lead single “There’s a Moon On”.
