Legendary American alternative rockers Pixies will be releasing a new album this year. The still-untitled record is scheduled for release in September and will serve as a follow-up to 2016’s Head Carrier.

While there isn’t much information about the album at the moment, that will change in June thanks to the Pixies-centered podcast Past Is Prologue. Hosted by music journalist Tony Fletcher, the podcast will contain 12 episodes and go behind the scenes with the band during the recording of their new album.

“Every episode will document the band’s new music, from its earliest stages through to completion, giving fans the opportunity to witness the evolution of the tracks,” the press release reads.

You can check out the trailer for the podcast below.

Besides Head Carrier, which was well received by the critics, Pixies have presented a number of other releases in the past couple of years including Come on Pilgrim…It’s Surfer Rosa, a box set celebrating the 30th anniversary of their debut album Surfer Rosa. Besides the full album, the release also contained their 1987’s EP Come On Pilgrim as well as a live set from 1986 Live From the Fallout Shelter.

Before their new album drops, Pixies will play a series of live shows with Weezer in the spring.  This will serve as a continuation of the joint tour that these two bands had in the summer of 2018.
