American indie rockers Pavement are reuniting after almost 10 years! Just days after frontman Stephen Malkmus hinted that the band is considering getting back together, the group announced they will play two reunion shows in 2020 to mark their 30th anniversary.

The shows are scheduled to take place at Barcelona’s Primavera Sound and the festival’s Portuguese edition NOS Primavera Sound Porto. The exact dates and further details are still to be revealed.

Pavement originally disbanded in 1999, after releasing their fifth studio album Terror Twilight. The band reunited in 2010 for a worldwide tour and released compilation album Quarantine the Past: The Best of Pavement. Following the end of the tour, the group decided to go on a hiatus once again.

Since then there were numerous rumors about Pavement’s reunion, but the bandmembers remained tight-lipped about the topic until Malkmus’ appearance on “Rolling Stone Music Now.” When asked about the band’s future, the 53-year-old vocalist and guitarist said that the group might reunite if there is enough interest from the fans for such a thing.

“Anything’s possible,” said Malkmus. “If there’s interest, then that’s always a factor. If people are really psyched about it, I’d be psyched about it too. So we’ll see.”
