Paramore postponed several shows on their This is Why Tour after the lead singer Hayley Williams contracted a lung infection, and they won’t be back anytime soon. The pop-punk band canceled the reminding dates on their U.S. tour due to Williams’ ongoing illness.

Williams released a lengthy statement, where she explained that they decided to take a week off performing to give her body enough time to heal. She did everything in her power to fight the symptoms, but her lung infection persisted, forcing the band to cancel US dates on their This is Why Tour.

“After struggling through the last few shows and consulting with my doctor, we’re unfortunately realizing that it’s past the point of wanting to push through to put on a good show for all of you. I’m now risking long-term damage and I need to pay attention to my body,” wrote Williams.

Paramore already postponed four dates on the This is Why Tour, but Williams’ illness put its future in jeopardy. The most recent North American leg of the tour was set to conclude this month, but the band is still expected to perform a series of dates across New Zealand and Australia in November. They’ll also serve as the opening act for Taylor Swift on the European leg of The Eras Tour next year.
