Olivia Rodrigo really kept her fans waiting for her new music, but she finally set a date for her potential comeback. The Grammy-winning star launched a mysterious countdown on her website, hinting that she’ll drop new music later this month.
Shortly after announcing that her new music is “so close to being done”, Rodrigo gave her fans a snippet of one of her upcoming songs and launched a cryptic countdown on her website. She’s getting ready to drop something on June 30, but we’re yet to learn if she’ll share a new single or a whole album with the world.
If she ends up embracing the same release strategy that proved successful with her debut album Sour, Rodrigo will most likely share several singles before dropping a full LP. This strategy propelled Sour to the top of the charts after producing two No. 1 singles: “Drivers License” and “Good 4 U”, ahead of its release.
Rodrigo’s sophomore studio album will reunite her with producer Dan Nigro, and she told Billboard that she loves working with him because they have a “good groove” together.
“We are always sharing ideas back-and-forth and have been carving out time to work together in the studio. The craziness of Sour being out in the world was something that really only Dan and I could relate to, and I think that has brought us closer together,” said Rodrigo.
