Olivia Rodrigo has been dropping hints that her new album is coming our way this year, and she finally made things official. The young Grammy winner announced her sophomore studio album Guts and announced it’s hitting the shelves on September 8.

This announcement was a long time coming, and it comes shortly after Rodrigo teased new music while celebrating the second anniversary of her debut album Sour. We’ll get the taste of things to come on June 30, when she’s set to drop the album’s lead single “Vampire”.

Rodrigo wanted her new album to reflect the growing pains that she went through between the ages of 18 and 20 and described this time as an intense period of awkwardness and change.

“I made the bulk of this album during my 19th year on this earth. A year that, for me, was filled with lots of confusion, mistakes, awkwardness & good old-fashioned teen angst… I think that’s all just a natural part of growth, and hopefully the album reflects that,” she wrote in a statement.

Rodrigo got her big break with her debut single “Drivers License”, which surged to no. 1 on the Billboard 200 and set the stage for her album Sour. This LP also produced hit songs “Good 4 U”, “Déjà Vu”, “Traitor”, and “Brutal” and won Rodrigo three Grammys, including best pop vocal album.
