It’s been four years since Nicki Minaj dropped her latest studio album and it seems she’s finally ready for a comeback. The hip-hop superstar dropped hints about her highly-anticipated fifth studio album in a recent interview and said that it’s coming “soon”.

Minaj was interviewed by JT of City Girls for i-D Magazine’s most recent cover story and she gave many interesting details about her future plans along the way. When talking about the projects she has on the horizon, Minaj said her fifth studio album is coming soon, but refused to say when.

This announcement comes shortly after she scored her first No. 1 single with “Super Freaky Girl”. She reflected on the song’s success in this interview and added it inspired her to fast-track her new album to come out this year.

“I wasn’t sure how I was even feeling about having to put out an album this year,” she said at the time. But [‘Super Freaky Girl’] happening and people liking it, that made me happy. People have gone through so much recently that they want to have fun,” said Minaj.

The rapper’s latest solo studio album Queen came out in 2018 and it gave us such hits as “Chun-Li” and “Barbie Dreams”.
