Neil Young has decided to reconnect with his old pals from Crazy Horse and play a couple of shows. Neil Young and Crazy Horse are scheduled to play on May 1st and May 2nd at Warnors Theatre in Fresno, California, which will be their first live performances since 2014.

“First time in a long time, live on stage. No rehearsal,”  wrote Young on his official website while revealing that Jonathan Richman (Modern Lovers) will serve as an opening act for these shows.

This incarnation of Crazy Horse will see guitarist Nils Lofgren reuniting with bassist Billy Talbot and drummer Ralph Molina. Lofgren was a member of the Crazy Horse from 1970 to 1971, recording 1971’s Crazy Horse, released without Neil Young. Lofgren and Young previously worked together on albums After the Gold Rush, Tonight’s the Night and Trans.

Nils Lofgren confirmed his involvement in the upcoming shows via his Twitter profile.

“Life is an unfolding saga,” Young detailed the reunion on his website. “A few months ago we started talking about playing some remote clubs and getting our feet wet again. Come and see us if you can as we approach our 50th year as a band. I think it will be the beginning of another beautiful chapter in our long, enriching and life changing Crazy Horse story.”

Neil Young and Crazy Horse started their collaboration in 1969 with the album Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere and went on to collaborate on 22 more albums. After taking a lengthy break from studio releases since 2004’s Greendale, Neil Young and Crazy Horse released two studio albums in 2012, Americana and Psychedelic Pill. These two albums remain their latest collaboration releases.
