If you’re feeling like it’s been too long since Metallica released their last album, you’re not the only one. The band’s Kirk Hammett, also can’t for their next record and says he already has a “ton of material”.

Hammett discussed the upcoming album in an interview with Mixdown magazine, and admitted he feels like it’s been too long since they dropped their last album “Hardwired… to Self-Destruct”.

“None of us are very comfortable with the fact it’s been so long because that is a long time. We’re hoping to avoid that this time around. Maybe we can get a bit more focus and go into the studio a bit sooner,” said Hammett.

“Hardwired… to Self-Destruct” came out back in 2016, and topped the Billboard 200 chart after selling 291,000 album-equivalent units in its first week. Shortly after its release, Metallica embarked on a WorldWired Tour, which should wrap up in New Zealand on November 2.
