Metal heavyweight Mastodon are known to release a steady stream of new music throughout their prolific career and they tend to release a new album every three years or so. This year is no different as Brann Dailor, the band’s vocalist and drummer told Wisconsin station Razor 94.7 the band “has too much material for the new record”. Dailor said he hopes they can start making sense of the abundance of materials soon.

“We have one festival in October, but we have a couple of months off, and we’re kind of chomping at the bit to get in there and put together some of the ideas that have been swirling around,” said Dailor in the interview. “We need to get in there and start chipping away at that giant hunk of granite and hopefully produce a beautiful sculpture.”

One can only assume that a new Mastodon album will include the song they have recorded with Neurosis’s Scott Kelly. The band has let the fans know about this song last winter before their European tour but its release has been delayed.
