Mariah Carey broke several major records with her timeless holiday jingle “All I Want for Christmas Is You,” and she’s on to the next one. Carey just became the first artist to have a no. 1 hit on the Billboard Hot 100 in four separate decades.

Carey topped the chart on multiple occasions during the ‘90s and 2000s, but the tide has shifted in the following decade. None of her songs reached no. 1 in 2010s, until “All I Want for Christmas Is You” managed to do so, 25 years after its release.

People kept on listening to her signature tune throughout the holiday season, and this song was still on the top of the charts as the new decade approached.

Mariah Carey released “All I Want for Christmas Is You” early in her career, and never expected it to find such an enormous success.

“I didn’t feel, from a strategic point of view, that it was time to do something like that. As much as I love Christmas, I thought that the record company was off. Obviously, I couldn’t have been more wrong,” the singer told Entertainment Weekly while discussing the timeless legacy of this track.
